Let go of the old nature for a higher nature.
In the Old Testament, the Israelites were told that before they approached God every day, they were to offer a burnt offering, an offering of a bull. (Deuteronomy 12:6) Spiritually, that is the bull nature of the human, that insists on its own life. This is my life, my will, my way, my mind, my achievements, I own, I possess, I decide, I want, I’ll get, I’ll do. That is the bullish nature of the human, contrary to the lamb, which is the nature of Christ, the submissive, obedient, gentle, meek, desiring to fulfill the purpose for which it’s been sent.
Every day we let go of that old nature, the strong will, for a higher will, a higher nature, the nature of the lamb. We do it everyday because we forget. As we interact with people, we find we are unknowingly taking on the old human consciousness. Every day we need to refresh the unloading of that old nature. Every day we make a concerted moment of choice to let go of the old and to receive and take on that which is our\ true nature, in which we have truly been created, the eternal nature we will continue to live out for eternity.
That’s the one we should be carrying while we’re here, because that’s the nature that will keep us separate from disease, suffering, the human scene. That’s the one that will cause us to live in victory and in wholeness and that’s also the one that allows us to fulfill the reason we’ve been sent, which is to deliver and free others. We’ve come to heal.
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippinans 2:5
